Ski Transfers

Val d’Isere Ski Transfers

Val d’Isere ski resort sits at the end of the Tarentaise Valley meaning slightly longer transfer times – but this epic resort is definitely worth the wait. The huge range of pistes, almost unlimited off-piste possibilities, and hedonistic nightlife have made Val d’Isere world famous for good reason.

Due to its popularity with skiers & snowboarders during the winter months there are some great transfer options from the local airports to Val d’Isere. Whether it’s a private minibus or shared transfer coach you are looking for then Snowcompare can help with transfers to Val d’Isere.

Compare transfers between Chambery airport & Val d’Isere ski resort

Chambery has the honour of being the closest airport to Val d’Isere ski resort at a distance of 145km away. The 2 hour transfer journey time between Chambery airport and Val d’Isere is certainly appealing, and private taxi transfers are certainly much cheaper than from other local airports.

The problem with Chambery airport is that the number of non-package holiday flights here are limited. The airport is only open during the winter, and as such this small facility can become overwhelmed with the influx of skiers & snowboarders in December. Still, some of the cheapest private transfers to Val d’Isere can be found starting from Chambery airport and that fact shouldn’t be overlooked. Shared transfers are very hard to find due to the lack of independent passengers travelling.

Compare transfers between Geneva airport & Val d’Isere ski resort

Geneva airport offers some distinct advantages for transfers to Val d’Isere, despite being just over the border in Switzerland. Low-cost airlines around Europe run regular low-cost flights in and out of Geneva – and the large number of passengers arriving and departing means the availability of onward transfers is also much higher than other airports.

Travelling around the scenic Annecy lake, the journey between Geneva airport and Val d’Isere takes just over 3 hours and is 179km long. On Saturdays during the winter season this single lane route can become very busy. Taking the alternative motorway route adds another 40km to the journey, but can cut travel time on the busiest of dates.

Compare transfers between Grenoble airport & Val d’Isere ski resort

Grenoble airport is the second busiest transport hub when travelling to Val d’Isere – after Geneva airport. This is largely determined by the frequency of low-cost flights from around Europe – which has increased in Grenoble over recent years. With a distance of 216km this is a slightly longer journey, but the fact that much of it is done on the fast French highways means a shorter transfer time of just under 3 hours.

Due to the use of these toll roads and the charges incurred by vehicles, Grenoble airport transfers do tend to be slightly more expensive than Geneva on the whole. Both private and shared transfer options can be found from Grenoble, however shared transfer companies tend to only operate on Saturdays due to passenger numbers on the busy hotel changeover day.

Compare transfers between Lyon airport & Val d’Isere ski resort

Lyon airport lies almost exactly the same distance from Val d’Isere as Grenoble – 220km. Journey times are also similar at circa 3 hours on a good day. Easy access to the local motorways from Lyon means that transfer journeys can be underway quickly and things tend to run smoothly right up until joining the single lane winding through the valley.

While low-cost airlines do fly to Lyon airport, they tend to have a reduced schedule when compared to Geneva and Grenoble. This reduced passenger footfall means that although private transfers to Val d’Isere ski resort are still easily arranged – shared transfer options between Lyon airport and Val d’Isere tend to be more limited.

As easy as bending your knees!

booking ski trip airport to resort transfers can be a minefield, expensive and a bit of a lottery. I found this new service via a Google search and it could not be easier to review transfer operator options - their prices and their respective user reviews. Once I had completed the booking process I got a confirmation email the same day that the return transfer for 6 people had indeed been confirmed by the operator. Just what was needed.

Perfect service - thanks!

Great service thank you!! Saved me so much time by not needing to trawl through the various transfer companies on google and requesting quotes on each, I'm also confident that I got the best price through Snow Compare. I even messed up by booking completely the wrong dates first time round but Dave at SC quickly sorted this for me.
