Nestled in the heart of the French Alps, Morzine is a charming mix of old-world Alpine beauty and modern ski resort fun. Whether you’re carving down powdery slopes, sipping cocktails at après, or exploring its vibrant village life, Morzine is the kind of place that captures every traveller’s heart — from families to solo adventurers and everyone in between.
Things to Do in Morzine
Morzine is part of the massive Portes du Soleil ski area — one of the largest in the world — giving you access to over 600km of ski runs stretching across France and Switzerland. The skiing and snowboarding here are incredible for all levels, with wide beginner slopes, tree-lined intermediate runs, and off-piste routes that’ll make powder hounds grin from ear to ear.
But skiing isn’t all Morzine has to offer. You can try ice skating at the village rink, take a snowshoe hike through the forests, or zoom down the toboggan runs. Non-skiers can enjoy spa days, yoga classes, or even husky sledding for something different.

Where to Eat
You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to food. For classic Alpine comfort food, head to La Grange, where raclette and fondue are served with a smile. L’Atelier is a must for those wanting a refined meal with a modern twist, while Chez Nannon (up the mountain) is perfect for a hearty lunch mid-ski — their cheesy potato dishes are legendary.
If you fancy a casual bite, Hideout Hostel Bar & Kitchen serves up creative street food and cocktails in a fun, sociable setting.
Nightlife and Après-Ski
It’s one of the liveliest ski towns in the Alps, with plenty of bars and live music venues to choose from. Bar Robinson is famous for its strong Mutzig beer and laid-back vibe, while Café Chaud and The Cavern Bar keep the party going until the early hours.
For après-ski, Le Tremplin at the bottom of the Pleney slopes is where the action starts — think live DJs, dancing in ski boots, and a buzzing crowd straight off the mountain.
Morzine for Everyone

Couples: Cosy chalets, mountain spas, and romantic dinners make it ideal for couples. A horse-drawn sleigh ride through snowy streets is a must-do.
-
Families with young kids: The resort has excellent ski schools like ESF Morzine and child-friendly areas such as the Penguin Park for little learners.
-
Solo travellers: With its welcoming atmosphere, great après scene, and friendly locals, Morzine is brilliant for meeting new people.
-
Non-skiers: From scenic walks to boutique shopping and thermal spas nearby in Les Gets, there’s plenty to keep non-skiers entertained.

Events: Winter 2025–2026
Morzine is buzzing all season long. Look out for:
- Rock the Pistes Festival (March 2026) – epic live music on mountain stages across the Portes du Soleil.
-
Morzine Christmas Village (December 2025) – festive fun with markets, lights, and Santa visits.
-
Harley Days Winter Edition – a quirky, high-energy event combining bikes, snow, and live entertainment.
The Powder
Thanks to its altitude and location, Morzine enjoys regular fresh snowfall throughout the winter. The powder here is fantastic, especially after a cold front — though if you want guaranteed deep snow, nearby Avoriaz (just up the mountain) tends to hold it longer and pairs perfectly with a Morzine base.
How to Get to Morzine
The nearest airport is Geneva, just 80km away — around 1 hour 30 minutes by road. Private transfers are the easiest and most comfortable way to reach Morzine, especially if you’re travelling with luggage or ski gear. Unlike public transport or shared transfers, a private transfer takes you straight to your chalet or hotel with no waiting around or detours — ideal after a long flight.
