Our Story
From Shared Transfers to a New Booking System
Snowcompare was founded in 2016 by our current managing director. Having previously set up the shared ski transfer business snowbus.co.uk, Dave had seen first-hand that there was a large demand for reliable and reasonably priced airport-to-ski resort transfers.
With shared transfers becoming increasingly challenging to facilitate, he noted that there were more and more people having difficulty sourcing private taxi transfers from the airports at a competitive price. At the same time, a number of fantastic local taxi companies were unable to reach those customers because they could not afford the marketing expense.
Identifying a Gap in the Market
The unique selling point for Snowcompare was therefore to connect customers looking to book private ski transfers independently with transfer companies seeking to increase their customer base. By sourcing and collating all the available information on one easy-to-use website, the hope was that finding and booking ski transfers would become easier than ever.
Coupled with that, Snowcompare could use advances in technology and online tools to make the booking process quicker and easier than it often was on individual company websites. Another benefit would be to provide an added layer of reliability to customers in terms of secure online payments through a UK company, plus ensuring all partners are fully licensed and have positive feedback from previous customers.

Growth and the Impact of COVID
Beginning as a small business running alongside Snowbus’s shared transfer model, we quickly discovered Snowcompare was a popular and useful service for holidaymakers, particularly in France. Unfortunately, just as the website began to take off, the whole travel industry suffered from COVID-related travel bans.
Despite the business almost closing permanently during this time, we were able to hold on until the reopening of European ski resorts in December 2021. The original business of Snowbus and its shared transfers ceased to operate after COVID, but we decided to put all of our efforts into the new business model of Snowcompare.
Where We Are Today
From humble beginnings and with some major obstacles in the way, we are proud that snowcompare.com has subsequently grown rapidly over recent years. In little more than a few ski seasons, we have been able to assist thousands of skiers and snowboarders in finding and booking their airport to ski resort transfers. We are very happy to have become a reliable source of information and assistance for travellers needing help – as evidenced in the excellent customer feedback we receive.

Our Team
Dave – Managing Director
As the founder of Snowcompare, Dave remains active within the business and committed to ensuring it remains the best possible service for both customers and transfer partners. As a relative latecomer to skiing and snowboarding, having started while studying psychology at the University of Birmingham, Dave subsequently spent several seasons working in hotels and bars in Alpe d’Huez and Tignes before going into business for himself.
With a passion for snowboarding and everything associated with the French mountain lifestyle, Dave has over 15 years of experience within the snow sports and travel industry. Currently enjoying a moderately quieter life in the Midlands, he enjoys spending time with his family and is encouraging his 4-year-old son to continue the family tradition by learning to ski. He continues to enjoy growing his knowledge of all areas of the travel sector as well as developing long-lasting industry partnerships that benefit Snowcompare and its clients.
Alicia – Sales & Marketing Manager
Alicia is an international business graduate from the University of Wolverhampton with a global perspective shaped by her time living abroad, from New Zealand to China. Working at Snowcompare since 2023, she combines her passion for travel with a love of encouraging others to step outside their comfort zones and experience something new – even if it’s a little bit scary.
When she’s not helping others plan their trips to the slopes, you’ll likely find her outdoors enjoying long walks (weather permitting!) or booking a solo trip to explore new places. Whether it’s a city break in Sweden or attending a concert, Alicia is always seeking fresh experiences. And while she is a novice skier and snowboarder for the moment, her adventurous spirit means she’ll soon be mastering the slope – one “pizza and fries” at a time!

How Far in Advance Should I Book My Ski Transfer?
We’d recommend booking your ski transfer as soon as you’ve decided when and where you’re going for your holiday. Doing so means you’re more likely to find the best deals, and you won’t miss out on finding a provider. Most ski resorts are around two hours away from the nearest airport, with limited transport links, so you could be faced with an expensive taxi ride if you don’t reserve a transfer.
