Meribel Ski Transfers
Meribel is located in one of the world’s premier regions for ski resorts. With neighbours such as Val Thorens, Courchevel, Tignes & Val d’Isere, it is hardly surprising that this area is one of the busiest destinations in Europe for ski holidays. Meribel’s position a short distance up from the valley town of Moutiers, means it actually has one of the shorter airport transfer times though.
The resort’s popularity with British holidaymakers means there are plenty of transfer companies providing both shared and private airport transfers for Meribel. Being served by four local airports – Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble & Chambery – means the prices and availability of services vary greatly and require some forward planning.
As the busiest international airport in the region Geneva sees some of the highest passenger numbers during the winter months. Despite being in Switzerland, a good percentage of those landing at Geneva airport will actually be travelling to Meribel for their ski holiday.
At between 160km and 180km depending on the route taken – a transfer between Geneva airport and Meribel is likely to take around 2.5 hours. When there is heavy snow, or heavy traffic though this time can easily increase to over 3 hours.
Private taxi companies will run Geneva airport transfers for Meribel for up to 8 passengers at almost any time of day or night – provided they are pre-booked. Most of these will tend to be more expensive at peak times and on weekends, whilst they tend to bring their overall cost down during the week when there is much less demand for the service. Prices can vary greatly, as can the quality of vehicles – which is why we would recommend using Snowcompare.com to compare all the local transfer company prices before booking.
On weekends it is also possible to find companies in Geneva offering regular shared airport transfers for Meribel. These tend to be much cheaper travel options especially for smaller groups. Timings can vary though and it is best to check before travelling as technically these companies are not allowed to sell tickets at the airport. Snowcompare makes it easy to see all the shared bus services on one page and book right there and then.

Lying approximately 170km from Meribel, Grenoble airport is the second most popular access point for international visitors. With a small but modern terminal and regular flights from some of the biggest low-cost airlines there are some definite bargains to be had flying in to Grenoble.
Similar to Geneva, it is not hard to find a private taxi transfer between Grenoble airport and Meribel. Operators will be happy to offer this door-to-door service, but prices can vary so it is definitely best to use Snowcompare to book the best transfer deals before you travel.
Shared airport transfers for Meribel also run regularly at the weekends from Grenoble. The competition in the local area has bought prices right down, but to avoid a long wait you should search for shared transfer times on Snowcompare.com.
Lyon airport sits approximately 180km from Meribel resort and is a journey of just over 2 hours when it is quiet on the roads. Lyon does see a good amount of footfall over the winter months, but not as much as Geneva or Grenoble airports. Major European airlines use Lyon, but the flight numbers again are not as great.
Private taxis can be arranged to run airport transfers for Meribel out of Lyon, although the costs may be higher due to it being a slightly quieter route. Shared transfers are also less frequent, but can still be found on the weekends. People landing mid-week may find it more difficult to source cheap airport transfers for Meribel. All the best local companies advertise their shared transfer services on Snowcompare.com though.
Chambery airport is the closest in the region to Meribel at just over 100km. However, the airport here is very small and in recent years they have built up more trade with package holiday companies and private planes.
